Robotbranchen vækster trods aktuelle udfordringer

The Danish robotics industry has traditionally demonstrated strong growth figures but 2024 has proven to be a more challenging year for companies. A new report from Odense Robotics shows that while nearly 60% of companies expect higher net revenue than the previous year, only 51% are satisfied with their results. This highlights that the industry’s growth expectations, which have been on a significantly high level the past years, have not been fully met in a pressured global market.

Odense, Denmark – March 24: The industry experienced significant growth in 2023, with a total revenue rising to EUR 4.6 billion, an increase of 24% compared to the previous year. Exports played a crucial role in this progress, growing by 39% to EUR 2.4 billion. However, in 2024, the industry has been significantly affected by challenging market conditions, particularly because Germany and the US — the most important export markets — are under economic pressure. With more than half of the total revenue generated from exports, this creates uncertainty for companies.

Innovation as a response to challenges

The latest figures are published today in Odense Robotics Insight Report 2025, the annual analysis of Denmark’s robotics, automation, and drone industry conducted by the national cluster. According to the cluster’s CEO, the new data reflects an industry that continues to invest in innovation despite increasing market pressures.

“Denmark’s robotics industry is facing a new reality, where market conditions have become more challenging. Many companies have adjusted their expectations, and access to capital is an increasing concern. However, this is an industry with a strong track record of innovation and adaptability. Our report shows that businesses continue to invest in new products and technologies, with AI playing an increasingly role in the development,” says Søren Elmer Kristensen, CEO of Odense Robotics, and continues:

“Manufacturing remains the core segment of the robotics industry, but we are seeing diversification. More companies are expanding beyond industrial applications to serve sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and energy. A broader customer base — both geographically and across industries — could be the key to unlocking new growth opportunities in a market that demands new approaches.”

The Odense Robotics Insight Report 2025 presents the latest analysis of Denmark’s robotics, automation, and drone industry, offering insight into the industry’s development and future outlook in a changing global market.
